Basically Thelma & Louise tells the story of Nora and Bea, two young women coming of age in a rural community in Staffordshire, England. The film follows them as they come to terms with the toxicity and lack of safety of the relationship they have with one of their male friends.

The exploration of unsafe relationships between young females and males and compelling friendship between females in this coming of age drama is set against the spectacular and varied rural landscapes which surround the northern town of Congleton. This allows the film to draw on and depict the experience of young females from rural communities, a group which is often underrepresented in film.
